Welcome to the INFN Accelerators group website
The INFN Accelerators is driven by a committee with interest to act as a link between the community of accelerator experts in INFN and its various institutes and laboratories. Accelerators committee eases also the communication with top management bodies of the Institute including the President, Executive Board, Board of Directors.
The group consists of various specialist with wide experience in the accelerators and accelerator related technologies and they promote the formation of thematically related networks among other accelerator experts within topics of significant interest. Group is allowing better moderator identification moderators and performs as a coordination function between each other.
The accelerator groups are to stimulate the harmonization of the Institute's skills and instrumental equipment in this sector and to encourage for participation in regional, national and international level calls as well as to carry out an advisory role, in the field of particle accelerators including on the strategic guidelines of INFN in the sector.

EuPRAXIA is the first European project that develops a dedicated particle accelerator research infrastructure based on novel plasma acceleration concepts and laser technology. To fully exploit the potential of this breakthrough facility, advances are urgently required in plasma and laser R&D, studies into facility design and optimization, along a coordinated push for novel applications.

Martedì 7 giugno la Ministra dell’Università e della Ricerca, Prof.ssa Maria Cristina Messa, si è recata in visita presso l’infrastruttura di Ricerca STAR (Southern europe Thomson source for Applied Research), accompagnata dal Rettore dell’Università della Calabria, Prof. Nicola Leone, e dalla Rettrice dell’Università di Milano Bicocca, Prof.ssa Giovanna Iannantuoni. 28 Marzo 2022 - A GEMMA COSTA IL PREMIO RESMINI La tesi di Dottorato della Dott.ssa Gemma Costa “Design study of plasma targets for laser driven wakefield acceleration experiments”, è stata selezionata fra i vincitori del Premio Nazionale “Francesco Resmini” per l’anno 2021, premio rivolto a coloro che abbiano conseguito il dottorato di ricerca con una tesi nel campo della Fisica degli Acceleratori e delle Nuove Tecnologie. Il lavoro di dottorato di Gemma Costa, portato avanti nel gruppo SPARC_LAB dei Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati (LNF-INFN), si è distinto per la rilevanza e l’originalità dei risultati raggiunti. Questo si è concentrato sullo studio, la realizzazione e la caratterizzazione di sorgenti di plasma per esperimenti riguardanti nuove tecniche di accelerazione al plasma, nel contesto del progetto europeo EuPRAXIA. Gemma Costa sarà premiata ed esporrà il proprio lavoro di fronte alla Commissione Scientifica Nazionale 5 (CSN5), nella riunione che si terrà ad Aprile nella sezione LASA-INFN.
